Rubbabandz – New Jack City Vol. 1: What The Streets Been Missin’
The long-awaited underground mixtape from Rubbabandz (Bandz), a founding member of Staten Island hip-hop group GP The Grain (GP Wu).
Born and raised in the Stapleton section of Staten Island, New York, Rubbabandz entered the music industry at an early age, initially signing with Erick Sermon and Elektra Records before joining GP Wu under legendary producer Hank Shocklee at MCA Records.
Throughout his career, Bandz has worked alongside and shared stages with an extensive roster of hip-hop artists, including RZA, Raekwon, Method Man, Big Daddy Kane, Daddy-O, Killa Army, DJ Clue, Kid Capri, Marley Marl, D.R. Period, Smooth Da Hustler and many others. His recorded appearances include Shyheim’s The Lost Generation and Wu-Chronicles, among other releases connected to the extended Wu-Tang family.
New Jack City Vol. 1 – What The Streets Been Missin’ captures Rubbabandz in full underground mixtape mode: 30 tracks of rugged New York hip-hop, freestyles, street records, collaborations and skits reflecting his Staten Island roots and subsequent move into the Southern hip-hop scene.
