Fes Taylor – Pay Me in Respect

Fes Taylor is a young veteran in the Hip-Hop game, having been part of the Shaolin Soliders way back in the day with King Just up to now, when he is still a very current, relevant Rap artist as well as a blog favorite. Back in 2009 his debut album was released on Chambermusik Records, as presented by Wu-Tang Clan member Inspectah Deck. Since then he has been releasing several street albums, collabos, as well as solo albums featuring various Wu-Tang Killa Beez and Staten island artists respectively. He even formed his own massive crew called Staten All-Stars, featuring much of the up and coming talent on the island of “Shaolin”. On this solo effort, Fes breaks new ground as his company “All-Star Films” has produced their first full-length movie called “Pay Me in Respect”. This solo album is basically the soundtrack to Taylor’s street epic. Production from luminaries such as Cee the Architek, Chris Stylez, and featuring artists associated with Fes’ past projects, such as Baker Don, Heidi Flyce, AC on Demand, & Judah Priest. The music on this release is a bit different than past Taylor albums, as it has a certain melancholy street awareness that can only be likened to an old, deep soul album. There are Wu-ish elements, but this album definitely has a story to tell that is unique and all its own. Not to be slept on!
